The Workers' Compensation Act (R.I. Gen. Laws §28-29-6.2) mandates that all employers doing business in the State of Rhode Island must disclose to all prospective employees at the time of application for employment that either the employer is subject to the provisions of Rhode Island's Workers' Compensation Act or is exempt from such coverage. If an employer claims an exemption, it must disclose the specific exemption relied upon. The disclosures required by the statute must be included on the first page of any written employment application and, if no application exists, in a separate written disclosure.
By law, smoking is prohibited in all enclosed facilities within places of employment without exception. This includes common work areas, auditoriums, classrooms, conference and meeting rooms, private offices, elevators, hallways, medical facilities, cafeterias, employee lounges, stairs, restrooms, vehicles, and all other enclosed facilities.
